- 135:1Hallelujah! Praise the name of Jehovah; / Praise Him, you servants of Jehovah,
- 135:2Who stand in the house of Jehovah, / In the courts of the house of our God.
- 135:3Praise Jehovah, for Jehovah is good; / Sing psalms to His name, for it is pleasant.
- 135:4For Jehovah has chosen Jacob for Himself, / Israel for His personal treasure.
- 135:5For I know that Jehovah is great / And that our Lord is above all gods.
- 135:6Whatever Jehovah pleases He does / In heaven and on earth, / In the seas and all the depths.
- 135:7He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; / He makes lightning for the rain; / He brings forth wind from His treasuries.
- 135:8He struck the firstborn of Egypt, / Both of man and of beast.
- 135:9He sent signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, / Upon Pharaoh and all his servants.
- 135:10He struck many nations / And slew mighty kings:
- 135:11Sihon the king of the Amorites / And Og the king of Bashan / And all the kingdoms of Canaan.
- 135:12And He gave their land as an inheritance, / An inheritance to Israel His people.
- 135:13O Jehovah, Your name is forever; / O Jehovah, Your memorial is from generation to generation.
- 135:14For Jehovah will execute judgment for His people, / And He will have compassion concerning His servants.
- 135:15The idols of the nations are mere silver and gold, / The work of human hands.
- 135:16They have mouths, but they do not speak; / They have eyes, but they do not see.
- 135:17They have ears, but they do not give ear; / And there is no breath in their mouths.
- 135:18Those who make them, / All who trust in them, / Will be like them.
- 135:19O house of Israel, bless Jehovah. / O house of Aaron, bless Jehovah.
- 135:20O house of Levi, bless Jehovah. / O you who fear Jehovah, bless Jehovah.
- 135:21Blessed be Jehovah from Zion, / Who dwells in Jerusalem. / Hallelujah.
- 136:1Give thanks to Jehovah, for He is good; / For His lovingkindness is forever.
- 136:2Give thanks to the God of gods, / For His lovingkindness is forever.
- 136:3Give thanks to the Lord of lords, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:4To Him who alone does great wonders, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:5To Him who by understanding made the heavens, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:6To Him who spread forth the earth over the waters, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:7To Him who made the great lights, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:8The sun for ruling the day, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:9The moon and the stars for ruling the night, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:10To Him who struck Egypt in their firstborn, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:11And brought forth Israel from their midst, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:12With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:13To Him who divided the Red Sea apart, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:14And brought Israel over through the midst of it, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:15And shook off Pharaoh and his force into the Red Sea, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:16To Him who marched His people through the wilderness, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:17To Him who struck great kings, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:18And slew majestic kings, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:19Sihon the king of the Amorites, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:20And Og the king of Bashan, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:21And gave their land as an inheritance, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:22An inheritance to Israel His servant, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:23Who remembered us in our low estate, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:24And rescued us from our adversaries, / For His lovingkindness is forever;
- 136:25Who gives food to all flesh, / For His lovingkindness is forever.
- 136:26Give thanks to the God of heaven, / For His lovingkindness is forever.
- 137:1By the rivers of Babylon, / There we sat down; indeed, we wept / When we remembered Zion.
- 137:2On the willows in the midst of it / We hung up our lyres,
- 137:3For there our captors required of us songs, / And those who tormented us required of us mirth, saying, / Sing for us / One of the songs of Zion.
- 137:4How can we sing the song of Jehovah / In a foreign land?
- 137:5If I forget you, O Jerusalem, / Let my right hand forget its skill.
- 137:6Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth, / If I do not remember you, / If I do not prefer Jerusalem / Above my chief joy.
- 137:7Remember, O Jehovah, / Against the children of Edom, / The day of Jerusalem, / Who said, Lay it bare! Lay it bare, / Down to its foundation!
- 137:8O daughter of Babylon, who are to be devastated, / Happy will he be who repays you / The recompense of what you have rendered to us.
- 137:9Happy will he be who seizes your little ones / And dashes them against the rock.
- Of David
- 138:1I will give You thanks with all my heart; / Before the gods I will sing psalms to You.
- 138:2I will bow toward Your holy temple / And give thanks to Your name / For Your lovingkindness and Your truth, / For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
- 138:3On the day that I called out, You answered me; / You encouraged me with strength in my soul.
- 138:4All the kings of the earth will give thanks to You, O Jehovah; / For they have heard the words of Your mouth.
- 138:5And they will sing of the ways of Jehovah, / For great is the glory of Jehovah.
- 138:6For though Jehovah is high, He regards the lowly; / And the haughty He knows from afar.
- 138:7Though I walk in the midst of trouble, / You will preserve me; / Against the wrath of my enemies You will stretch out Your hand, / And Your right hand will save me.
- 138:8Jehovah will complete that which concerns me. / O Jehovah, Your lovingkindness is forever; / Do not forsake the works of Your own hands.
- To the choir director. Of David. A Psalm
- 139:1O Jehovah, You have searched me and known me.
- 139:2You know when I sit down and when I rise up; / You understand my thoughts from afar.
- 139:3You thoroughly search my path and my lying down, / And You are acquainted with all my ways.
- 139:4For a word is not yet on my tongue, / And already You, O Jehovah, know it completely.
- 139:5You have closed in on me behind and before / And have laid Your hand on me.
- 139:6Oh, knowledge too wonderful for me! / It is so high; I cannot attain to it.
- 139:7Where shall I go, away from Your Spirit, / And where shall I flee from Your presence?
- 139:8If I ascend into heaven, You are there; / If I make my bed in Sheol, there You are.
- 139:9If I take the wings of the dawn / And settle at the limits of the sea,
- 139:10There also Your hand will lead me, / And Your right hand will take hold of me.
- 139:11And if I say, Surely darkness will cover me, / And the light around me will be night;
- 139:12Even the darkness is not dark to You, / And night shines like day; / The darkness is like the light.
- 139:13For it was You who formed my inward parts; / You wove me together in my mother's womb.
- 139:14I will praise You, for I am awesomely and wonderfully made; / Your works are wonderful, / And my soul knows it well.
- 139:15My frame was not hidden from You / When I was made in secret, / Skillfully fashioned in the depths of the earth.
- 139:16Your eyes saw my unformed substance; / And in Your book all of them were written: / The days that were ordained for me, / When not one of them was yet.
- 139:17And how precious are Your thoughts to me, O God! / How great is the sum of them!
- 139:18If I should count them, they would be more than the sand. / When I awake, I am still with You.
- 139:19Oh that You, O God, would slay the wicked - / Depart from me therefore, you men of bloodshed -
- 139:20Those who speak of You with evil intent, / Who as Your enemies take Your name in vain.
- 139:21Do I not hate those who hate You, O Jehovah? / And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
- 139:22I hate them with a perfect hatred; / They have become my own enemies.
- 139:23Search me, O God, and know my heart; / Try me, and know my anxious thoughts;
- 139:24And see if there is some harmful way in me, / And lead me on the eternal way.
